Treatment of Calcium Carbide Slag by New Upper Acidic Soil Ameliorant Project

In order to solve the environmental pollution problem of CALCIUM carbideslag solid waste in open-air stacking and realize the comprehensive utilization of renewable resources, Western Environmental Protection Ordos Soil Improvement Co., Ltd. has invested 230 million yuan in the construction of a project of 500,000 tons of soil amendments and 200,000 tons of desulfurization powder per year in Mengxi Hi-tech Industrial Park. For the record, other formalities such as performance appraisal and environmental impact assessment are being processed, and construction is expected to start in April 2017.

This project takes Calcium Carbide slag as the main raw material, develops low-temperature activation additives as the premise, activates calcium carbide slag necessary, and then uses quantitative molar ratio technology to develop acidic soil amendment products. Calcium, Silicon, magnesium and other nutrient elements in the products can play the purpose of slowly regulating the soil, so that the nutrient components can be sustained. It can be absorbed by crops in a balanced way to avoid nutrient loss and secondary pollution. Besides producing soil improver, recycling calcium carbide slag can also produce calcium carbide lime, power plant desulfurization lime, sewage purification lime, steel plant solvent lime, which can reduce the pollution of calcium carbide slag stacking to the environment and groundwater in Mengxi Park and its surrounding areas. After the completion, the annual sales revenue will be 360 million yuan, 153 new jobs will be created, and the implementation of the project will make the solid waste of carbide slag turn into treasure, reduce a large amount of carbide slag stockpile, eliminate the possible secondary pollution to the environment, realize the comprehensive utilization of renewable resources, and at the same time, expand the by-products of PVC and develop the comprehensive utilization of renewable resources. The new application field of waste residue opens up a new way for enterprises to develop circular economy, promotes the comprehensive development of cleaner production such as resource saving, comprehensive utilization and environmental protection in Mengxi Park, and realizes win-win situation of ecological environment and economic environment.
