A reporter recently learned from the Quanzhou Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics that according to a sample survey of the main commercial supermarkets and agricultural markets in the central urban area, fruit prices in the urban area dropped significantly in a single month, and are expected to gradually fall, while pork prices are expected to remain high this month.

Quanzhou Investigation Team of National Statistical Bureau analyzed that after autumn, fruits came into the market one after another, and the price of fruits dropped significantly in a single month. Among them, the average price per kilogram of pear decreased by about 39.0% compared with last month. Other varieties such as apples, bananas, watermelons, grapes, etc. also have different degrees of decline, but the overall price level of fruit is still higher than the same period last year. Next, fruits will be on the market in large quantities, and prices are expected to gradually fall. At the same time, the price of pork in the market has increased greatly recently. From the month-to-month comparison, pork prices have risen since the second half of 2018, and have fallen from February to May this year. In June, pork prices have risen by 3.3%, and by July, pork prices have risen by 7.3%. From the price monitored by the Quanzhou Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics at the beginning of this month, it is expected that pork prices will further increase in August. The rise in pork price is attributed to the imbalance between supply and demand caused by the decline in pig production capacity. Market vendors reflect that for a period of time, the price of live pigs has changed frequently. Take 250 kg of live pigs as an example: on August 1st, the gross price of live pigs is about 11.1 yuan/kg, on the 13th, the gross price is 14.35 yuan/kg, on the 19th, the gross price is 15.0 yuan/kg. Pork retailers are choosing to sell at higher prices because they can't absorb the rising costs.

It is understood that in order to coordinate and guarantee the supply of pork market, according to the Quanzhou Live Pig and Pork Product Transport Scheme, our city and Sanming, Zhangzhou and South have established "point-to-point, batch inspection" pig transport on an equal footing, and "point-to-point, batch inspection" cold pork transport with Longyan, Sanming and Shuanghui Jiangxi bases. Transportation ensures better supply and price stability of pork market. However, due to the increasing demand for pork around the country after autumn, the supply and demand of pork is tense. From the consumer's point of view, people have also felt the rise in pork prices. As of August 20th, the average price of pork lean meat, pork and pork ribs increased by over 3 yuan at the end of last month. Although pork consumption has entered the traditional off-season after summer, the demand for live pigs has decreased, but after autumn, demand has increased due to the impact of the traditional Chinese Lunar New Year Festival in July, and the relationship between supply and demand tends to be tense. In addition, the opening season of the new semester will affect market demand, but also to a certain extent to boost pork prices.
