China's total import and export volume increased by 3.6%

According to the Ministry of Commerce, the head of the Foreign Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce introduced the situation of China's foreign trade from January to August 2019. From January to August, China's total import and export volume was 20.13 trillion yuan, an increase of 3.6%. Among them, exports increased by 6.1% to 10.95 trillion yuan, imports by 9.18 trillion yuan to 0.8% and trade surplus by 1.77 trillion yuan to 46%.

The person in charge pointed out that the scale of China's foreign trade remained stable from January to August. From January to August, China's total import and export volume was 20.13 trillion yuan, an increase of 3.6%. Among them, exports increased by 6.1% to 10.95 trillion yuan, imports by 9.18 trillion yuan to 0.8% and trade surplus by 1.77 trillion yuan to 46%. From the international comparison, according to the latest data from the World Trade Organization (WTO), China's export growth in the first half of the year was higher than the overall level of major economies.

Optimizing the layout of the international market, the import and export of emerging markets increased by 6%, driving import and export growth by 3.5 percentage points. Among them, the import and export growth of the countries along the "one belt and one road" increased by 9.9%, representing a 4 percentage point increase to 29% in 2013. With the optimization of the domestic regional layout, the export of the central and western regions grew by 13.8%, which was higher than the overall export by 7.7 percentage points, accounting for an increase of 1.2 percentage points to 17.5% over the same period last year. With the optimization of the structure of the main body of business, the vitality of the main body of private enterprises has been continuously enhanced, with export growth of 13.7%, accounting for 51.2%, and export growth spurred by 6.5 percentage points. From January to August, 124,000 new private enterprises were registered, an increase of 12.4%.

Commodity structure optimization, mechanical and electrical exports accounted for 57.9%. Among them, the added value of integrated circuits, computers and components, motors and generators has been further increased, and the unit price of exports has increased by 36.9%, 4.1% and 4.5%, respectively. Exports of seven categories of labor-intensive products grew by 7.3%, of which toys and plastic products grew by 33.7% and 18.2%, respectively. Optimized trade mode, general trade maintained a strong resilience, export growth of 9.4%, compared with the same period last year increased by 1.8 percentage points to 58.8%, the contribution rate to export growth reached 87.9%.

Continuously promotes system innovation, management innovation and service innovation, further improves the business environment for the development of new foreign trade formats and new modes, and maintains rapid growth in cross-border e-commerce and market procurement trade. Exports of high-quality, high-tech and high value-added products increased steadily, exports of new energy vehicles doubled, exports of excavators, machine tools, medical devices and other products maintained a two-digit growth.

The person in charge pointed out that at present, various departments and local governments have paid close attention to the measures of foreign trade stabilization policy promulgated by the State Council and achieved positive results, and a number of good practices have been formed. The average processing time of normal tax refund has been shortened to 10 working days, the coverage of export credit and insurance has been further expanded, and the supervision certificates of import and export links have been further simplified, which has effectively stimulated the vitality of the market main body and boosted the confidence of foreign trade enterprises.
