Beijing: elderly oral health care included in chronic disease management

In 2025, the health status of Beijing People's teeth will be significantly improved. Recently, Beijing Municipal Commission of health and health organized and formulated the action plan for healthy oral cavity of Beijing (2019-2025). By 2025, the supporting environment for healthy oral society in Beijing will be basically formed, the oral health literacy level and the formation rate of healthy behaviors of residents will be further improved, and the oral health services will cover the whole population and the whole life cycle, so as to better meet the health needs of the people. In order to achieve these goals, Beijing will improve the construction of oral service system. We will further improve the cooperation mechanisms among stomatological hospitals, stomatology departments of general hospitals, grass-roots medical and health institutions, disease prevention and control institutions, and maternal and child health care institutions that perform their respective functions and complement each other's advantages. We will implement the hierarchical diagnosis and treatment system, rely on the construction of the oral specialized medical association, standardize the diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases, and improve the dental prevention service capacity of various institutions. Give full play to the technical guidance role of the prevention and control of dental diseases in the prevention and control of dental diseases, and constantly improve the construction of the municipal and district level dental disease prevention and control system. We will further strengthen the management of the designated medical institutions for the public health services for oral cavity, and guide the social dental medical institutions to participate in the prevention and treatment of oral diseases.

Carry out "sugar reduction" special action, reduce the supply of sugar drinks and high sugar food in the canteens of schools and kindergartens, carry out the training of cooking management personnel in catering units, encourage catering enterprises to develop "low sugar" or "sugar free" dishes, carry out the publicity of reading food nutrition labels, and improve the ability of consumers to correctly select packaged food. In primary medical institutions, the core information of oral health care should be taught to the parents of 0-3-year-old infants, so that the parents can master the knowledge and skills of scientific feeding of infants; in the early detection of caries susceptible children, professional oral intervention should be accepted as early as possible. Give full play to the cooperative effect of primary medical and health institutions and dental professional institutions to reduce the incidence of early caries in infants. In the next few years, Beijing will continue to carry out the project of local use of fluoride to prevent caries of primary teeth for preschool children, organize preschool children to brush their teeth with fluoride toothpaste if possible, strengthen the oral health education for children, parents and kindergarten teachers; provide free oral examination and local application of fluoride to prevent caries, and suggest that children who are susceptible to caries receive professional oral intervention services as soon as possible. We should actively carry out caries treatment and strive to improve the ratio of caries filling treatment.

In view of the occupational population, the oral examination was included in the routine physical examination items in Beijing, and the physical examination doctors were trained in oral health service management. For the elderly, the elderly oral health care will be integrated into the community management of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes and other chronic diseases. Provide oral health service management training for community doctors, and make joint diagnosis and treatment for oral diseases and chronic diseases. We will promote the establishment of dental departments in community health service centers, and actively carry out services such as prevention and treatment of caries, periodontal diseases, and oral mucosal diseases, and restoration of missing teeth.
