Thailand issues GMO food labeling rules

2024-01-26

Recently, the Thai Food and Drug Administration issued GMO food labeling regulations. The regulation states that from 2025, all GM food labeling in Thailand must follow the following:

1. Mandatory labelling for all products derived from genetically modified organisms (including gene-edited, genetically modified plants, animals and microorganisms), or using modern biotechnology to alter genetic material or combine new genetic material and use it as food, as long as it contains more than 5% genetically modified ingredients.

2. GMO products must have a yellow black triangular logo with the word "GMO" on the product label, app or web page, and the old version of the logo applies until December 2024.
