Toray, LG Chem Establish Separation Membrane Joint Venture in Hungary

Recently, Japan's Toray and South Korea's LG Chem jointly announced that the relevant procedures for the establishment of a joint venture to produce lithium-ion secondary battery separation membranes in Hungary have been completed, indicating that the joint venture has been officially established and started operations.

It is reported that the joint venture is located in the new village of Nerges in the Komarom-Ezztergom region of Hungary. The name of the joint venture is LG Toray Hungary Battery Separator, with a capital of 22,000 euros, with each party contributing 50%. The CEO of the joint venture is jointly held by Li Yuming, head of LG Chem's European business, and Toray Hungarian company president Hiroo Yoshimura. By 2027, the joint venture will have an annual production capacity of more than 800 million square meters of separation membranes, LG Chem said.
