Invest 10 Billion! BASF Fully Promotes the Construction of Integrated Bases!
BASF Europe has recently made a final investment decision to fully advance its integrated base project in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, China. The project is progressing steadily on schedule, and the next phase will focus on building the core of the integrated base: a steam cracking unit and multiple downstream units producing petrochemicals, intermediates, etc. By 2030, BASF will invest up to 10 billion euros to build the Zhanjiang integrated base.
When fully completed, the Zhanjiang integrated base will become BASF's third largest integrated production base in the world, after Ludwigshafen, Germany and Antwerp, Belgium. In 2020, the first units of BASF's Zhanjiang integrated base will be officially started with piling construction. The entire integrated base will be constructed in phases and is scheduled to be completed in 2030.
At present, the first plant for the production of engineering plastics at the base is being commissioned and will be put into operation soon; another plant for the production of thermoplastic polyurethane will be put into operation in 2023.
