From January to October, China's total import and export increased by 2.4% year-on-year, including an increase of 4.9% in exports and a slight decrease of 0.4% in imports, the head of the Department of foreign trade of the Ministry of Commerce said Tuesday. From January to October, the development of foreign trade was stable and improved. From the perspective of international comparison, according to the latest data of WTO, in the first eight months, the growth rate of China's import and export is higher than the average growth rate of major global economies. The data show that the structure of foreign trade continues to be optimized. From the layout of the international market, the growth of imports and exports of the countries along the belt and road has increased by 9.4%, representing a 4.1 percentage point increase to 29.1% in comparison with 2013. From the perspective of domestic regional layout, the export of the central and western regions increased by 13.8%, 8.9 percentage points higher than the overall export, accounting for an increase of 1.4 percentage points to 18.1% compared with the same period last year. In terms of commodity structure, the export of mechanical and electrical products accounted for 58.3%. The head of the Department of foreign trade of the Ministry of Commerce said that at present, a new round of reform and opening up has injected new vitality into the development of foreign trade. The second China International Import Expo was successfully held, with the deepening of streamlining administration and decentralization, the gradual release of policy dividend, the continuous improvement of business environment and the enhancement of corporate policy sense. Questionnaire survey shows that more than 70% of enterprises are satisfied with the implementation of foreign trade stabilization policy. In the next step, the Ministry of Commerce will make greater efforts to stabilize the expectations, stabilize the confidence of enterprises and promote the high-quality development of trade.
