National energy group completes the first unmanned coal port operation in China

ECHEMI 2019-12-16

With the continuous development of science and technology, the full-automatic terminal is becoming a new trend in the development of port industry. Huanghua port of national energy group recently realized the full process remote control, completed the first unmanned operation of coal port in China, and became the first coal port in China to realize the full process remote operation. The construction of China's "intelligent port" has once again taken a step forward. Huanghua Port Company of national energy group is a professional energy port mainly for coal, which is mainly responsible for the water and transportation of coal. It is also the shortest coal transportation port in Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia. Since 1998, national energy group has built 17 coal berths, 2 general cargo berths and 1 oil product berth here. In 2018, the port throughput exceeded 200 million tons. In recent years, with the wide application of automatic control system, many domestic container ports have realized full automation operation, but the automation operation of coal port is facing many problems.

In the case of coal terminal, there are many "variables" in the field operation environment: the main cargo of the terminal is bulk coal, rather than standardized containers; there are various types of ships to and fro, so matching problems should be considered when loading; the accuracy of the movement of the ship loader's boom requires more accuracy, and improper operation is prone to equipment collision. In order to improve the operation efficiency and move forward to the construction of intelligent port, national energy group took the initiative to explore and carry out intelligent transformation research for the whole process of turning, stacking, picking and loading. In 2016, Huanghua Port Company established a scientific and technological research and development team to carry out special research on the automation and intelligent operation of coal port. After more than three years of efforts, we have finally explored a set of remote shipment control scheme integrating visualization system, monitoring and early warning system and emergency response system, which has opened the last link of unmanned operation of the terminal, become the first coal port in China to realize the whole process of remote operation, and also provide "intelligent scheme" for the future construction of coal port and bulk cargo port in China.

Before China's most modern coal port was also a semi-automatic operation, many operation steps need to be completed manually, such as the stacker reclaimer needs to be operated manually according to the height and size of the stacker position. With the full use of the remote operating system in Huanghua port, the staff only need to send an instruction to the operating system. The system will automatically control the machinery to move forward and backward to find the operation point, take off and land, etc., which not only saves manpower and time, but also reduces the probability of human error to the greatest extent Two staff are required to operate one single machine. Now, 2 staff can control 7 single machines to carry out work at the same time, which greatly improves the work efficiency. The operation of the remote operation system makes Huanghua port have outstanding advantages in loading and unloading efficiency, safety management, intelligent construction, etc., and the intelligent level of China's coal port has entered a new era.
