Health value boosts coffee sales
As China's health consciousness rises across the board, "healthy eating" will be one of the most talked about health behaviors in 2021. Among the respondents, 79% of consumers said they are more conscious of the health value of their diet than ever before. Healthy drinks are further sought after by consumers, with new products that focus on high protein, plant-based, low sugar and low calorie becoming the new development direction.

On the contrary, milk tea, carbonated drinks and other high-sugar, high-calorie drinks are considered "not healthy enough" by the public.
The strengthening of the perception of the health value of coffee has become a new engine to drive the development of the coffee market, and has also activated the direction of product innovation. For health purposes, consumer preferences have shifted from milk tea to coffee. In the past two years, milk coffee products with high protein and plant-based selling points continue to sell well, with new products coming out frequently; low-fat and low-calorie categories such as cold brew and bubbles are welcomed by fitness professionals.
