In December, the average purchase price of electric coal in the whole region was 213.81 CNY/ton, up 3.40% on a month on month basis, up 1.04% on a year-on-year basis; after being converted into standard coal (7000 kcal), the average value was 423.43 CNY/ton, up 3.15% on a month on month basis, up 6.03% on a year-on-year basis. Among them, the average purchase price of electric coal in the eastern region is 207.39 CNY/ton, up 5.20% month on month, up 5.80% year on year; the average purchase price of electric coal in the western region is 218.94 CNY/ton, up 2.07% month on month, down 2.28% year on year. Inner Mongolia development and Reform Commission said that in December, the temperature in Inner Mongolia dropped significantly, and the heating demand further increased, especially in the eastern region, which led to a small pick-up of coal prices in the whole region. With the coming of the Spring Festival, the capacity release of coal enterprises is limited, at the same time, the need for coal enterprises to replenish the storage just before the festival will increase. Therefore, it is expected that the coal price in Inner Mongolia will show a slight upward trend in January 2020.
