European nylon maker Lentic announces force majeure, PA66 plant shutdown

2022-09-23

On September 14, Radici Group (Lentici, Italy), the world's leading polyamide manufacturer, announced that the production of resin and adipic acid at its plant in Novara, Italy, was affected by force majeure and temporarily shut down two PA66 production units at the plant.

The company said that supply shortages, technical issues and current high cost energy and gas prices in Europe were the main reasons for the force majeure event.

As early as the end of August, Italy's Tichy had reportedly suspended one of its adipic acid units in Zeitz, Germany. After this Novara unit failure, two of its downstream PA66 units also stopped production, and it is unclear how long local PA66 stocks can be maintained.
