Covestro adjusts Asia-Pacific polyurethane product layout
On September 22, Covestro announced that it will adjust the product portfolio of its customized polyurethane business unit for the home appliance industry in Asia Pacific (excluding Japan), and the synthetic polyether polyol business will withdraw from the home appliance market in China, India and Southeast Asia. to respond to changing customer needs in the region.
Polyurethane is an important thermal insulation material used in refrigerators and refrigeration equipment. Covestro currently provides two-component polyurethane, a combination of polyether polyol and isocyanate, for customers in the home appliance industry. Recent market analysis shows that most home appliance customers in Asia Pacific now prefer to buy both materials separately. Covestro said product adjustments to the home appliance industry in the Asia-Pacific region would not affect its European and North American businesses. Appliances remain a key customer industry for Covestro in the Asia-Pacific region, Covestro said. After the optimization of the portfolio, Covestro will continue to sell isocyanates to the home appliance industry in China, India and Southeast Asia as a reliable supplier.
The relevant person in charge of Covestro said that on a global scale, Covestro continues to develop solutions for polyurethane composite materials and expand the customer base of polyurethane. For the Asia-Pacific region, Covestro will continue to focus on customer needs in polyurethane composite applications such as automobiles, wind turbine blades, pultrusion processes and refrigerated containers, and provide them with customized solutions and polyurethane composite products.
