Drugs play an extremely important role in the prevention, treatment and diagnosis of diseases, but on the other hand, they can cause damage to various organs of the body due to their toxic side effects. Although William Osler observed as early as 1880 that an overdose of morphine could lead to acute pulmonary edema, it was not until 1972 that Rosenow systematically discussed 20 drugs that were definitely related to lung damage. Since then, there have been more and more reports on drugs and lung diseases, and people have paid more and more attention to them. So far, more than 100 drugs have been reported to cause lung lesions. The adverse reactions of drugs to the lungs are part of the adverse reactions of systemic drugs, and their clinical manifestations vary. Some are acute and severe, while others are subacute or chronic. Some of the pathological and physiological changes caused by drugs are temporary and reversible, and disappear after stopping the drug, while others can cause permanent damage to lung tissue, and severe cases can even be life-threatening. This type of lung disease caused by drugs is called drug-induced lung diseases (DILD).
