Giant cell arteritis
Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a widespread vascular disease. It was previously called cranial arteritis, temporal arteritis, and granulomatous arteritis. Later, it was recognized that any large artery in the body could be affected, so it was named giant cell arteritis based on its pathological characteristics. It is a special type of granulomatous arteritis. Clinical manifestations are mostly caused by vascular occlusive changes.
