Hepatitis E (HE) is an infectious disease caused by hepatitis E virus (HEV), transmitted by fecal-oral route, and mainly causes liver damage. It can often cause epidemics and outbreaks, and its clinical and epidemiological characteristics are similar to those of hepatitis A.
