Ureteral prolapse in children
Ureterospondylosis is a congenital developmental abnormality. It is caused by congenital stenosis or functional contracture of the ureteral orifice and incomplete development of the ureteral wall, resulting in a bulge in the lower layers of the ureter that protrudes into the bladder. The outer layer of the bulge is the bladder mucosa, the inner layer is the ureteral mucosa, and the thin ureteral muscle layer is between the two. This disease is often complicated by urinary tract obstruction and urinary tract infection, and stones may be complicated in the bulge.
