Discoid lupus erythematosus
Discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) is a chronic relapsing disease that primarily affects the skin and is characterized by well-defined red plaques (erythema), follicular plugging, scaling, telangiectasia, and skin atrophy. The cause is unclear. It is more common in women, with the highest incidence around the age of 30. The disease can be divided into two types: ① Localized skin lesions are limited to the skin above the neck; ② Disseminated skin lesions affect skin in a wide range of areas of the body. Some authors believe that the disseminated type is more likely to transform into systemic lupus erythematosus.
