Restrictive cardiomyopathy in children
Restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM), also known as occlusive cardiomyopathy, is relatively rare. Due to endocardial and/or myocardial lesions, ventricular distensibility is reduced, diastolic filling is impaired, and heart failure occurs. Restrictive cardiomyopathy is a cardiomyopathy characterized by fibrosis and hyperplasia of the endocardium and subendocardial myocardium, mural thrombosis, cardiac chamber shrinkage or occlusion, ventricular filling disorder and decreased compliance, severe damage to cardiac diastolic function, and normal or mildly impaired systolic function.
