Irritable bowel syndrome
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a syndrome associated with changes in gastrointestinal function, with chronic or recurrent abdominal pain, diarrhea, abnormal bowel habits and stool characteristics as the main symptoms, but lacks gastrointestinal structural or biochemical abnormalities. It often coexists with other functional gastrointestinal diseases such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and functional dyspepsia (FD).
