Trichilemmal carcinoma was first reported by Headinton in 1976, but its diagnosis was not recognized by pathologists for many years. A series of recent reports have confirmed that this disease is a hair follicle tumor. Metastasis may occur, and the typical skin lesion is usually less than 3 cm.
