Spinal nerve sheath tumor
Spinal nerve sheath tumors originate from the dorsal spinal nerve roots and may also produce subpial infiltration when growing centripetally. Brachial or lumbar plexus neurofibromas can invade and grow into the central dura along multiple nerve roots, and paraspinal Schwannoma is usually located outside the dura when it extends into the spinal canal. Approximately 2.5% of intradural spinal nerve sheath tumors are malignant.
