Babesiosis
Babesiosis (piroplasmosis) is a parasitic disease in humans and animals caused by blood protozoa of the genus Babesia that parasitize in red blood cells and are transmitted through ticks. Different types of protozoa can cause disease in corresponding vertebrates, so there are various types of babesiosis in cattle, horses, dogs, sheep, pigs, etc. In the acute onset of human babesiosis, it is quite similar to malaria, and the clinical symptoms are intermittent fever, splenomegaly, jaundice, intravascular hemolysis and hemoglobinuria.
