Rheumatic erythema marginale
Erythema marginatum rheuma tieum is the main symptom of rheumatic fever. There are two forms of skin lesions: one is flat, i.e. annular rheumatic erythema; the other is raised, i.e. marginal erythema. The lesions are annular or arc-shaped. They can expand to multiple annular or reticular shapes. The lesions spread rapidly and may disappear within hours or days, but they may recur in batches elsewhere. Treatment can be with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and salicylate preparations for anti-rheumatic treatment, and antibiotics such as penicillin can be used at the same time.
