Volvulus syndrome
Volulus syndrome refers to a group of intestinal obstruction syndromes caused by the entanglement and twisting of the terminal ileum and sigmoid colon. It can cause intestinal circulation obstruction and partial or complete closure of the intestinal cavity to produce closed loop intestinal obstruction. This syndrome mainly occurs in middle-aged and elderly people, and is most common in people over 45 years old. The incidence rate in men is higher than that in women. Cecal volvulus and transverse colon volvulus are extremely rare.
