Hemoglobinopathies
Hemoglobinopathy is a group of inherited blood diseases caused by abnormal hemoglobin molecular structure (abnormal hemoglobinopathy) or abnormal globin peptide chain synthesis rate (thalassemia). Clinically, it can manifest as hemolytic anemia, methemoglobinemia, or cyanosis caused by tissue hypoxia or compensatory erythrocytosis due to increased or decreased hemoglobin oxygen affinity.
