Posterior urethral valve
Posterior urethral valves are the most common urethral obstruction in infants and newborns. This disease only occurs in male children. The valve is usually located at the distal end of the prostatic urethra. The valve is formed by mucosal folds and looks like a thin membrane. During urination, the valve can cause varying degrees of obstruction. Posterior urethral valves are an important cause of renal failure.
