Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus
Diabetes insipidus refers to a pathological state in which the kidneys cannot concentrate urine and continue to excrete large amounts of dilute urine when plasma ADH is normal or elevated. It is a rare renal tubular dysfunction disease. This state of excessive water intake and hypotonic polyuria may be caused by the inability of normal physiological stimulation to induce the release of antidiuretic hormone. Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus is a disease of impaired renal tubular water reabsorption, manifested as polyuria, polydipsia, and persistent hypotonic urine.
