Hemolytic anemia in the elderly
Hemolytic anemia refers to anemia caused by premature destruction of red blood cells at a rate that exceeds the compensatory capacity of the bone marrow. Hemolysis occurs because of abnormalities in the red blood cells themselves, which makes them easily destroyed; or hemolytic anemia occurs when there is no abnormality in the red blood cells themselves, but due to the action of hemolytic factors, a large number of red blood cells are destroyed, exceeding the compensatory function of the bone marrow's hematopoietic function.
