Entamoeba histolytica
Entamoeba histolytica (also called dysentery amoeba) (entamoeba ihstolytica Schaudinn, 1930) mainly parasitizes in the colon, causing amoebic dysentery or amoebic colitis. Entamoeba histolytica is also the most important pathogenic species in the class Rhizopoda. Under certain conditions, it can spread to the liver, lungs, brain, urogenital system and other parts, forming ulcers and abscesses. Entamoeba histolytica is distributed worldwide, mostly in tropical and subtropical areas.
