Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is a slowly growing tumor derived from fibroblasts or histiocytes in the dermis, which later develops into multiple nodules on the plaque. The disease is locally invasive, occasionally widely disseminated, but rarely metastatic.

Patients with Philadelphia chromosome positive chronic myeloid leukemia in blast crisis, accelerated phase, or in chronic phase after failure of interferon-alpha therapy.
