Ear eczema
Ear eczema refers to eczema that occurs in the helix, external auditory canal, and folds behind the ear. It is more common in infants and young children. Both seborrheic dermatitis and atopic dermatitis can present as ear eczema. External auditory canal eczema can be caused by otitis media or ear picks, and the bacteria that infect are mostly staphylococci or streptococci. Nickel-plated eyeglass frames and earrings can also cause ear eczema.
