Iodine is the main raw material for the synthesis of thyroxine by the thyroid gland and can be taken up and concentrated by the thyroid follicular epithelium. After oral administration of this product, most of the 131I is excreted from the body through urine, and the remaining part is almost entirely concentrated in the functional thyroid tissue. It can be used as a thyroid function assessment, functional thyroid tissue imaging agent, treatment of hyperthyroidism, and treatment of lesions after thyroid cancer resection. Under normal circumstances, 10% to 25% is taken up by the thyroid gland, and the concentration in the thyroid gland can reach 25 to 500 times the plasma concentration. Stimulation such as thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) can increase the intake.

Iodine is the main raw material for the thyroid gland to synthesize thyroxine. It can be taken up and concentrated by the thyroid follicular epithelium. It is used to determine thyroid function, image functional thyroid tissue, treat hyperthyroidism, and treat metastatic lesions after thyroid cancer resection. The uptake can be increased when stimulated by thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), and most of the iodine participates in the synthesis of thyroxine in the thyroid gland.
