Iron is a component of hemoglobin in red blood cells. When iron is deficient, the amount of hemoglobin synthesized by red blood cells decreases, causing the red blood cells to become smaller and their oxygen-carrying capacity to decrease, leading to iron deficiency anemia.

Mebendazole

It is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic that can inhibit the intestinal parasites' glucose uptake, leading to the depletion of glycogen in the worms and reducing the formation of adenosine triphosphate in the worms. However, it does not affect the host's blood glucose level. Ultrastructural observation showed that mebendazole caused the degeneration of microtubules in the cytoplasm of the worm's membrane cells and intestinal cells, resulting in the accumulation of Golgi endocrine granules. Transport blockage, cytoplasmic dissolution, and complete degeneration of absorptive cells caused the death of the worms. Mebendazole has the effect of completely killing hookworm eggs and whipworm eggs and partially killing ascarid eggs. In vitro tests have shown that 5 mg/L can inhibit the development of hookworm larvae.

Levamisole hydrochloride

It can selectively inhibit succinate dehydrogenase in the muscles of the worm, so that fumaric acid cannot be reduced to succinic acid, thereby affecting the anaerobic metabolism of the muscles of the worm and reducing energy production. In addition, the drug may have an inhibitory effect on the microtubule structure of the worm. Levamisole also has immune regulation and immune stimulation functions.
