Compound lidocaine cream

Function and Efficacy

This product is applied to the intact skin surface and covered with a sealed film. It releases lidocaine and prilocaine into the subcutaneous layer and cortex, and accumulates lidocaine and prilocaine at the cortical pain receptors and nerve endings to achieve the anesthetic effect of the cortex. Lidocaine and prilocaine are amide local anesthetics. They stabilize the nerve cell membrane by blocking the ion flow required for the generation and conduction of nerve impulses, thereby producing a local anesthetic effect.

Ingredients

This product is a compound preparation, its components are: prilocaine and lidocaine, each gram of this product contains 25 mg of prilocaine and 25 mg of lidocaine.

Appearance

This product is a white cream.

Indication

This product is used for local anesthesia of the skin in the following situations: (1) needle puncture, such as: catheter insertion or blood sampling; (2) superficial surgical procedures.

Usage and Dosage

For skin: Apply a thick layer of cream on the skin surface, cover with a sealing film, about 1.5g/10cm2 for adults and children over 1 year old, about 2g for minor surgery, the application time is at least 1 hour, up to 5 hours, about 1.5-2g/10cm2 for large-area skin surgery, the application time is at least 2 hours, up to 5 hours. For infants aged 3-12 months, a maximum of 2g of cream can be applied to the skin of an area of 16cm2, and the application time is about 1 hour. Genital mucosa: Apply 5-10g of this product to the mucosa for about 5-10 minutes, and the surgery can be started without covering with a sealing film.

Adverse Reactions

This product can produce local reactions at the application site, with pallor, erythema (redness) and edema being the most common. These reactions are mostly short-lived and mild. Burning or itching may also occur in the early stages of use, but this is less common. Allergic reactions to amide local anesthetics (the most serious reaction is anaphylactic shock) are rare. High doses of prilocaine can lead to increased levels of methemoglobin in the blood.

Precautions

(1) Patients who are highly allergic to amide local anesthetics or any other ingredients in this product; (2) Patients with congenital or idiopathic methemoglobinemia.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: Before further clinical data is obtained, this product cannot be used in the following situations: infants under 3 months old; infants aged 3 to 12 months who are receiving methemoglobin inducers. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Lidocaine and prilocaine can pass through the placental barrier and be absorbed by the fetus. So far, many pregnant women and women of childbearing age have used lidocaine and prilocaine, but no reports of special obstacles in the reproductive process have been found, such as: increased incidence of malformations or other direct or indirect effects of fetal damage. Lidocaine and prilocaine are also secreted from breast milk. Due to the small amount of secretion, infants will not be affected at the therapeutic dose level. Precautions for the elderly: This product has not been tested and there is no reliable reference.

Drug Interactions

This product may increase the formation of methemoglobin in patients who are receiving other drugs that can cause methemoglobinemia, such as sulfonamides. When using large doses of this product, patients who are receiving other local anesthetics or other drugs with similar molecular structures to local anesthetics should be considered to have systemic toxic effects, such as tocaine.

Storage

Seal the container and store it below 25℃. Do not freeze it.
