Sulpiride Tablets

This product belongs to the benzamide antipsychotic drug. Its characteristic action is to selectively block the dopamine (DA2) receptors of the mesolimbic system, with little effect on other neurotransmitter receptors, mild anticholinergic effect, and no obvious sedative and anti-excitement and agitation effects. This product also has strong antiemetic and gastric juice secretion inhibitory effects.

The main ingredient of this product is Sulpiride, and its chemical name is: N-[methyl-(1-ethyl-2-pyrrolidinyl)]-2-methoxy-5-aminosulfonyl)-benzamide.

This product is white tablets.

It has a good effect on apathy, withdrawal, stupor, depression, hallucination and delusion. It is suitable for simple schizophrenia, paranoid schizophrenia, tension type, and chronic schizophrenia. It has a certain effect on depression. Other uses include anti-nausea.

For oral treatment of schizophrenia, the initial dose is 100 mg once, 2 to 3 times a day, gradually increasing to a therapeutic dose of 600 to 1200 mg per day, and a maintenance dose of 200 to 600 mg per day. For vomiting, 100 to 200 mg once, 2 to 3 times a day.

1 Common symptoms include insomnia, early awakening, headache, irritability, fatigue, loss of appetite, etc. Anticholinergic adverse reactions such as dry mouth, blurred vision, tachycardia, dysuria and constipation may occur. 2 Extrapyramidal reactions such as tremor, rigidity, drooling, bradykinesia, akathisia, and acute dystonia may occur when the dose is greater than 600 mg per day. 3 It often causes an increase in plasma prolactin concentration, and the possible related symptoms are: galactorrhea, gynecomastia, menstrual disorders, amenorrhea, and weight gain. 4 Electrocardiogram abnormalities and liver damage may occur. 5 A small number of patients may experience excitement, agitation, sleep disorders or increased blood pressure. 6

It is contraindicated for patients with pheochromocytoma, hypertension, severe cardiovascular disease, severe liver disease, and those who are allergic to this product.

Precautions for children: Children over 6 years old should use the adult dose. They should start with a small dose and increase the dose slowly. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Pregnant women should use with caution and reduce the dose when using. Lactating women should stop breastfeeding while using this product. Precautions for the elderly: Elderly patients should start with a small dose and increase the dose slowly.

Except for clozapine, almost all antipsychotics and central nervous system depressants interact with it and should be treated with full attention.
