Sucralfate chewable tablets
Function and Efficacy
Pharmacological action: The mechanism of action of sucralfate in promoting the healing of gastric and duodenal ulcers is still not very clear. It is known that it mainly exerts its efficacy through local rather than systemic effects, and is related to the following effects: 1. Both human clinical and ulcer animal model studies have shown that sucralfate can bind to exudate proteins in the ulcer site to form a complex attached to the ulcer surface. 2. In in vitro tests, sucralfate-albumin membrane has a barrier effect that inhibits H diffusion. 3. In clinical studies, patients taking the recommended dose of sucralfate during the treatment of ulcers can reduce the activity of pepsin in gastric juice by 32%. 4. Sucralfate can absorb bile salts in in vitro tests. The above results suggest that sucralfate exerts its anti-ulcer effect by forming a complex attached to the ulcer surface, protecting the ulcer site from damage by gastric acid, pepsin and bile salts. 1g of sucralfate can neutralize approximately 14-16mEq of gastric acid. Toxicological studies: Reproductive toxicity: When rats were given sucralfate at a dose of 38 times the human dose, fertility was not significantly affected. When rats, mice and rabbits were given 50 times the human dose, no teratogenic effect on the animal fetus was observed. Due to the lack of adequate and strictly controlled clinical research data on the use of this product in pregnant women, and the results of animal reproductive toxicity studies cannot fully represent the results of human trials, pregnant women can only take this product when it is really necessary. Carcinogenicity: Rats and mice were given sucralfate 1g/kg (12 times the human dose) orally for 24 consecutive months, and the results showed no carcinogenicity.
