Function and Efficacy
The hydroxyl group at the 4 position changes from cis to trans. It is a non-specific drug for the cell cycle, and its main site of action is the cell nucleus. The mechanism of action of this product is related to its ability to bind to DNA. When this product is added to cells cultured in vitro, it can quickly penetrate into the cell, enter the cell nucleus and bind to DNA, thereby inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis and mitosis. It has been confirmed that epirubicin has a broad spectrum of anti-experimental tumor effects and also has an inhibitory effect on topoisomerase. The therapeutic effect is equal to or slightly higher than that of doxorubicin, while the toxicity, especially the cardiac toxicity, is lower than that of doxorubicin.

Appearance
This product is bright red or orange-red loose lumps; it is hygroscopic.
Indication
Used to treat leukemia, malignant lymphoma, multiple myeloma, breast cancer, lung cancer, soft tissue sarcoma, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer, etc.
Usage and Dosage
When epirubicin is used alone, the adult dose is 60-90 mg/m2 per body surface area. When combined with chemotherapy, 50-60 mg/m2 is injected intravenously each time. It can be repeated every 21 days depending on the patient's blood picture.
Adverse Reactions
1. Similar to doxorubicin, but to a lower degree, especially cardiac toxicity and bone marrow toxicity; 2. Other adverse reactions include: hair loss, which occurs in 60-90% of cases and is generally reversible, and males have suppressed beard growth; mucositis, which occurs on the 5th to 10th day of medication and can often occur on the lateral and sublingual mucosa of the tongue; gastrointestinal dysfunction, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea; fever, chills, urticaria, pigmentation, and joint pain have been reported occasionally
Precautions
1. Patients with significant bone marrow suppression due to chemotherapy or radiotherapy are contraindicated. 2. Patients who have used large doses of anthracyclines (such as doxorubicin or daunorubicin). 3. Patients with a recent or past history of heart damage.
Drug Interactions
1 Epirubicin can be used in combination with other anti-tumor drugs, but the dosage of epirubicin should be reduced. When used in combination, they should not be used in the same syringe. 2 Epirubicin should not be mixed with heparin for injection, because the two are chemically incompatible and precipitation reactions will occur at a certain concentration.
