Mifepristone Tablets

Mifepristone is a receptor-level antiprogestin that has the effects of terminating early pregnancy, preventing implantation, inducing menstruation, and promoting cervical ripening. It competes with progesterone for receptors to antagonize progesterone, and also has a certain binding force with glucocorticoid receptors. Mifepristone can significantly increase the sensitivity of the pregnant uterus to prostaglandins. Small doses of mifepristone sequentially combined with prostaglandin drugs can achieve satisfactory results in terminating early pregnancy.

Slightly yellow tablets, odorless and tasteless.

Mifepristone tablets can be used in combination with prostaglandin drugs to terminate pregnancy within 49 days of amenorrhea.

Healthy early pregnant women who have not menstruated for ≤49 days should take 25mg mifepristone tablets orally twice a day on an empty stomach or 2 hours after eating, 1 tablet each time, for 3 consecutive days. Fast for 2 hours after each dose. On the morning of the 4th day, place 1 carboprost methyl ester suppository (1mg) in the posterior fornix of the vagina, or use other similar prostaglandin drugs. Rest in bed for 2 hours and be observed in the outpatient clinic for 6 hours. Pay attention to bleeding after medication, whether there is discharge of pregnancy products, and side effects.

1 Some women in early pregnancy may experience mild nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue and lower abdominal pain after taking the medicine. 2 Some women may develop a rash. 3 After using prostaglandins, there may be abdominal pain, and some subjects may experience vomiting and diarrhea. A few may experience flushing and numbness.

Those who have contraindications to the use of prostaglandins: such as glaucoma, asthma and allergy to prostaglandins. 4. Those who are pregnant with an intrauterine device and suspected ectopic pregnancy.

Precautions for children: Not yet clear. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Contraindicated for pregnant women; the content of mifepristone in breast milk and its effect on infants have not yet been concluded, so it is not recommended for lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: Not yet clear.

Mifepristone is mainly metabolized by the CYP3A4 enzyme in the liver in the body. Combination with ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin and other drugs may increase the serum level of mifepristone. Combination with rifampicin, adrenocortical hormones and certain anticonvulsants (phenytoin sodium, phenobarbital, carbamazepine, etc.) can induce the activity of liver drug metabolizing enzymes, thereby reducing the serum level of mifepristone. Therefore, this product should not be used simultaneously with the above drugs. In addition, this product should not be used in combination with griseofulvin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
