Eprazone Hydrochloride Tablets
Function and Efficacy
Phenylpropion is a non-addictive antitussive drug with both central and peripheral antitussive effects, and mainly acts on the cough center. Animal experiments show that it selectively inhibits the brainstem reticular body, including the cough center of the medulla oblongata, and its intensity is similar to or 1/3 of codeine, 2 times that of dextromethorphan, and 3 times that of narcotine. The clinical antitussive effect of this product is similar to or slightly inferior to that of codeine, but it does not have the intestinal peristalsis inhibitory effect of codeine. This product has both expectorant effects, can change the properties of the polysaccharide fibers of acidic glycoproteins in sputum, and cause the mucopolysaccharide fibers to swell and break, and has a strong mucolytic effect. In addition, experimental results also show that this product also has sedative effects, local anesthetic effects, and antihistamine and anticholinergic effects, and can relieve bronchial smooth muscle spasms caused by histamine, acetylcholine and 5-hydroxytryptamine.
