Formoterol Fumarate Tablets

This product is a long-acting selective adrenaline beta 2 receptor agonist with a dose-dependent bronchodilator effect. It can increase the forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC) and peak expiratory flow rate (PER). After taking 80 mu g of this product orally, the dilation effect is the strongest 4 hours later, and its effect is equivalent to that of taking 4 mg of salbutamol orally, but the effect is long-lasting. This product also has an antihistamine effect, which can inhibit the release of histamine from lung mast cells. Its effect is similar to that of histamine H1-receptor antagonists and mast cell stabilizers such as ketotifen.

This product is white or off-white tablets.

It is used to treat breathing difficulties caused by airway obstructive diseases such as bronchial asthma, chronic tracheitis, asthmatic bronchitis, emphysema, etc. It is especially suitable for patients who need to take adrenaline β2 receptor agonists for a long time and patients with nocturnal asthma.

Oral administration: Adults, 160 μg per day, divided into 2 doses. Children, 4 μg/kg per day, divided into 2 to 3 doses.

1. Palpitations in the circulatory system or sometimes tachycardia, premature ventricular contractions, facial flushing, chest tightness; 2. Tremors in the mental and nervous system, sometimes headaches, excitement, fever, heat sensation, drowsiness, night sweats or occasional tinnitus, numbness, uneasiness, dizziness; 3. Symptoms of the digestive system sometimes occur, such as belching, abdominal pain, burning sensation, etc.; 4. Allergies sometimes have itching, or occasionally rash. Stop taking the drug when such symptoms occur; 5. Others sometimes occur, such as thirst, dizziness, fatigue, and lethargy.

It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to the ingredients of this product.

Precautions for children: The safety for premature infants and newborns has not been determined (no experience). Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: In animal experiments, oral administration of large amounts (6 mg/kg/day or more) during the perinatal period has been reported to increase the number of stillbirths and decrease the feeding rate. Therefore, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should only be given the drug when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks. Precautions for the elderly: Not yet clear.

1. Since the combined use of catecholamines such as epinephrine and isoproterenol may cause arrhythmia or sometimes cardiac arrest, it should be avoided. 2. When used in combination with xanthine derivatives, glucocorticoids and diuretics, arrhythmia may occur due to hypokalemia, so it is best to monitor blood potassium.
