Compound Dihydroartemisinin Tablets
Function and Efficacy
This product is a compound antimalarial drug composed of dihydroartemisinin, piperaquine phosphate, and trimethoprim. Dihydroartemisinin has a strong killing effect on the asexual body of Plasmodium, and can quickly kill Plasmodium, thereby quickly controlling symptoms; the antimalarial effect of piperaquine phosphate is similar to that of chloroquine. After oral absorption, it is stored in the liver and then slowly released into the blood. It has a long-lasting effect and can be used for the prevention and treatment of malaria symptoms; trimethoprim has the effect of inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase. It binds to the dihydrofolate reductase of Plasmodium, interferes with its purine synthesis, and thus inhibits the growth of Plasmodium. The results of pharmacological experiments show that the three-drug formula has a synergistic effect and can delay the development of drug resistance in Plasmodium.
