Function and Efficacy
When liver function is severely damaged, ammonia metabolism in the body is disordered, leading to hepatic coma. After intravenous infusion, this product can combine with excess ammonia in the blood to form non-toxic glutamine, which dissociates ammonia through the action of glutaminase in the kidneys and is excreted in the urine, thus alleviating the symptoms of hepatic coma. This product also participates in brain protein metabolism and sugar metabolism, promotes the oxidation process, and improves the function of the central nervous system.

Appearance
This product is a colorless or almost colorless clear liquid.
Indication
Used for hepatic encephalopathy, hepatic coma and other mental symptoms caused by excessive blood ammonia.
Usage and Dosage
Treatment of hepatic coma by intravenous drip: Dissolve 18.9g of potassium glutamate in 500-1000ml of 5% or 10% glucose injection and slowly drip once or twice a day. It is suitable for patients with hypokalemia. To maintain electrolyte balance, potassium glutamate is often used in combination with sodium glutamate in a ratio of 1:3 or 1:2.
Adverse Reactions
1. Too fast intravenous drip can cause salivation, skin flushing and vomiting. Tremors may occur in children. 2. Pay attention to electrolyte balance during intravenous drip, and measure blood carbon dioxide binding capacity and potassium, sodium and chloride content when possible. 3. People with anxiety may experience syncope, tachycardia, tearing and nausea.
Precautions
1. Patients with renal insufficiency or anuria should use glutamate with caution. 2. The combination of this product with anticholinergic drugs may weaken the pharmacological effects of the latter. 3. When not used in combination with sodium glutamate, be careful to avoid hyperkalemia.
