Magnesium ions inhibit the release of acetylcholine by motor nerve endings, block nerve and muscle conduction, and relax skeletal muscles, so they can effectively prevent and control convulsions (eclampsia); ② Magnesium ions directly act on uterine muscle cells, antagonize the effect of calcium ions on uterine muscle contraction, and inhibit uterine contraction; ③ 50% solution applied externally can relieve inflammation and pain through hot compress; ④ It is difficult to absorb orally, which increases the osmotic pressure in the intestinal cavity, and a large amount of water causes the intestine to expand, which stimulates the intestinal wall receptors and causes diarrhea; ⑤ The oral concentration (33%) has a choleretic effect. It is suitable for severe pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome, threatened premature labor, cervical edema during labor, constipation, etc.

External application of magnesium sulfate powder can reduce swelling and is used to treat swelling after limb trauma, help improve rough skin, etc.

1. For the treatment of moderate to severe pregnancy-induced hypertension, preeclampsia and eclampsia, the first dose is 2.5-4g, diluted with 25% glucose injection 20ml, slowly intravenously injected within 5 minutes, and then maintained by intravenous drip of 1-2g per hour. The total amount for 24 hours is 30g, which is monitored by knee tendon reflex, respiratory rate and urine volume. 2. The dosage and method for the treatment of premature delivery are similar to those for the treatment of pregnancy-induced hypertension. The first loading dose is 4g; diluted with 25% glucose injection 20ml, slowly intravenously injected within 5 minutes Injection, then use 60ml of 25% magnesium sulfate injection, add it to 1000ml of 5% glucose injection and drip it intravenously, at a rate of 2g per hour, until 2 hours after the uterine contraction stops, and then take oral adrenal receptor agonists to maintain. 3. Treatment of convulsions in children: intramuscular injection or intravenous medication: 0.1~0.15g/kg each time, dilute this product into 1% solution with 5%~10% glucose injection, drip it intravenously or dilute it into 5% solution, slowly inject it intravenously. 25% solution can be used for deep intramuscular injection. Generally, only intramuscular injection or intravenous medication is safe for pediatrics.

If the concentration is too high during catharsis, it may cause dehydration; ulcers and damage to the gastrointestinal tract may easily lead to excessive absorption of magnesium ions and cause poisoning.

Precautions for children: Intramuscular or intravenous administration: 0.1g-0.15g/kg each time, used for anticonvulsant. When used, dilute this product with 5-10% glucose injection to 1% solution, intravenous drip or dilute to 5% solution, slowly push injection. 25% solution can be deep intramuscular injection. Generally, pediatrics only use intramuscular or intravenous administration. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: It is forbidden for lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: Elderly patients, especially those over 60 years old, should use this product with caution.

Drugs that are contraindicated with magnesium sulfate include polymyxin B sulfate, streptomycin sulfate, calcium gluconate, dobutamine hydrochloride, procaine hydrochloride, tetracycline, penicillin, and nafcillin (ethoxynaphthalene penicillin).

Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Avoid direct sunlight. Package tightly. Store separately from oxidants and avoid mixing. The storage area should be equipped with appropriate materials to contain leaks.
