Kojic acid is a melanin-specific inhibitor that, when it enters skin cells, can complex with copper ions in cells, alter the steric structure of tyrosinase, and prevent the activation of tyrosinase, thereby inhibiting the formation of melanin. Kojic acid whitening active agent has better tyrosinase inhibition effect than other whitening active agents. It does not act on other biological enzymes in the cell, and has no toxic effect on the cells.
