      thiourea

Thiourea is an organic sulfur-containing compound with the chemical formula CH4N2S. It is a white and glossy crystal with bitter taste, density of 1.41g/cm³, and melting point of 176 ~ 178℃. Used in the manufacture of drugs, dyes, resins, pressure plastic powder and other raw materials, also used as rubber vulcanization accelerator, metal mineral flotation agent, etc. It is formed by the action of hydrogen sulfide with lime slurry to form calcium hydride sulfide and calcium cyanamide. It can also be made by melting ammonium thiocyanate, or by interaction between cyanamide and hydrogen sulfide.

It is used to synthesize drugs such as sulfathiazole, methionine and fatty pig tablets. Used as raw material for dyes and dyeing AIDS, resins and press-plastic powders. Also can be used as rubber vulcanization accelerator, flotation agent of metal minerals, phthalic anhydride and fumaric acid catalyst, and used as metal corrosion inhibitor. In photographic materials, can be used as developer and toner. It can also be used in electroplating industry. Thiourea is also used in diazo photosensitive paper, synthetic resin coatings, anion exchange resins, germination promoters, fungicides and many other aspects. Thiourea is also used as a fertilizer.

Used in the manufacture of drugs, dyes, resins, pressure plastic powder, rubber vulcanization accelerator, metal mineral flotation agent and other raw materials.

Flammable in case of open fire and high heat. Heat decomposition, release nitrogen, sulfur oxides and other toxic gases. Can react strongly with oxidant.

It is easily deliquescent in air. Convert to ammonium thiocyanate at 150℃. Sublimate at 150-160℃ and decompose at 180℃ under vacuum. It is reductive and can reduce free iodine to iodide ion. This product is highly reactive and is used to prepare various compounds. It can react with a variety of oxidants to produce urea, sulfuric acid and other organic compounds, and can also be easily dissolved with inorganic compounds into addition compounds.

This product has little toxicity when it is used once, and can be absorbed through the skin when it is used repeatedly, inhibiting the function of thyroid and hematopoietic organs, causing central nervous paralysis, respiratory and cardiac function reduction and other symptoms. Workers who have produced this product for 1 to 15 years will have headache, sleepiness, general weakness, dry skin, bad breath, bitter mouth, upper abdominal pain, constipation, frequent urination and other symptoms. Typical symptoms include pale face, facial edema, abdominal distension, decreased basal metabolism, decreased blood pressure, slower pulse, and changes in electrocardiogram. There are also symptoms such as skin diseases. The LD50 of this product is 10G/KG for frog and 4g/kg for rat. The lethal dose in humans was documented as 10g/kg. Workers producing this product should wear respirator masks, wear protective clothing, pay attention to safety. Production equipment should be closed, no running, bubbling, dripping, leakage phenomenon.
