      potassium fluoride

Potassium fluoride, an inorganic salt, has the chemical formula KF.Colorless cubic crystal. It is easy to deliquesce. The relative density is 2.48. Melting point 858℃. The boiling point is 1505℃. Refractive index 1.363. Soluble in water, soluble in hydrofluoric acid and liquid ammonia, slightly soluble in alcohol and acetone. The aqueous solution is alkaline and can corrode glass and porcelain. When heated to sublimation temperature, a little decomposition, but the activity of molten potassium cyanide is larger, can corrode refractory materials. Admixture KF.H2 02 can be formed with hydrogen peroxide. There are two types of hydrates: KF.2H20 and KF.4H20. Below 40.2℃, dihydrate (KF.2H20) can be crystallized in aqueous solution

Monoclinic crystal, self - soluble in crystalline water at 41℃. Toxic.

Used for glass carving, food anticorrosion, electroplating. It can be used as welding flux, insecticide, fluorination agent of organic compounds, catalyst, absorbent (absorbing HF and moisture), etc. It is also used to make potassium hydrogen fluoride.
