Description

SODIUM ETHOXIDE

Sodium ethanolis an organic compound with the chemical formula C2H5ONa. It is a white to yellowish hygroscopic powder that quickly decomposes into sodium hydroxide and ethanol when it meets water. It is soluble in anhydrous ethanol without decomposition. Insoluble in benzene, mainly used as a strong alkaline catalyst, ethoxylation agent, can also be used in medicine, pesticides, spices and other organic synthesis.

It is used as a strong alkaline catalyst, ethoxylation agent and as a condensing agent and reducing agent in organic synthesis. Pharmaceutical industry for the production of phenobarbital, butazone, proectanone, methyldopa, tetracaine hydrochloride, pertuszine, amtraxate, pyrimidine, pifurampicillin and so on. In addition, it is also used for pesticide and as an analytical reagent.
