4-cyano-4 '-pentoxybiphenyl.
It has a strong benzene ring aroma.
Soluble in non-polar solvents such as ethanol and benzene, insoluble in water.
Good stability, not easy to react violently with oxidants.

Purpose:
As an intermediate in organic synthesis, it can be used to synthesize oxalones, hormones and other organic chemicals.
It can be used in the synthesis of dyes and pigments.

Preparation:
4-cyano-4 '-pentoxybiphenyls can be synthesized by a two-step reaction:
4-bromo-4 '-cyanobiphenyl was formed by the reaction of 4-cyanobiphenyl with bromo-hexane.
Next, 4-bromo-4 '-cyanobiphenyl is reacted with ethanol by condensation reaction to form 4-cyano-4' -pentoxybiphenyl.
