Dimethyl carbonate (DMC), is a kind of important intermediates organic synthesis, molecular structure contains carbonyl, methyl and armour,such as oxygen functional group, has a variety of reaction performance in the production safety, convenient, have use less pollution, easy to transport all those characteristics. Due to the lower toxicity dimethyl carbonate, is a potential "green" chemical product.

Dimethyl carbonate (DMC) is an important organic chemical intermediate. Due to its molecular structure containing carbonyl, methyl, methoxy, and carbonylmethoxy groups, it can be widely used in organic synthesis reactions such as carbonylation, methylation, methoxy, and carbonyl methylation. It is used in the production of polycarbonate, isocyanate, polyurethane, polycarbonate diol, allyl diethylene glycol carbonate, naphthalene methylcarbamate (carbamate), benzyl ether, etc A variety of chemical products, including tetramethylammonium alcohol, long-chain alkyl carbonate, carbazide, malonate, malonurane, diethyl carbonate, triphosgene, furazolidone, hydrazine methyl formate, and aniline methyl formate. Due to its non-toxic nature, DMC can replace highly toxic substances such as phosgene, methyl chloroformate, and dimethyl sulfate as methylation or carbonylation agents, improving the safety of production operations and reducing environmental pollution. As a solvent, DMC can replace Freon, trichloroethane, trichloroethylene, benzene, xylene, etc. for use in paint coatings, cleaning solvents, etc. As a gasoline additive, DMC can increase its octane number and oxygen content, thereby enhancing its anti knock performance [1]. In addition, DMC can also be used as an additive for cleaning agents, surfactants, and softeners. Due to its wide range of applications, DMC is hailed as the "new cornerstone" of organic synthesis today.
